Formed in 1988 by frontman Billy Corgan and James Iha, The Smashing Pumpkins found world-wide success relatively quickly. Their sound was able to appeal to a wide variety of individuals by containing a mix of gothic rock, heavy metal, dream pop, psychedelic rock,  and progressive rock. Though their lineup has been a mix of different musicians over the years, the “Shiny and Oh So Bright” tour will see the return of Jimmy Chamberlin and Jeff Schroeder.

Over the years The Smashing Pumpkins have churned out hit after hit, including 1979, Tonight, Tonight, and Cherub Rock! Earlier this year they released the song “Solara”, which is the first recording in over 18 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin. The song is everything that you would expect from that lineup, and fits perfectly within The Smashing Pumpkins portfolio.

Based on previous performances of the tour, the show in Columbus should be epic! The concerts have been nearly three-hours, with Billy Corgan and the band playing classics, B-sides, and a few covers. We won’t spoil everything for you, but based on previous accounts, The Smashing Pumpkins have been holding nothing back!

Hopefully we will see you at the show! You can stay up-to-date with everything Smashing Pumpkins at www.smashingpumpkins.com.
