The post-hardcore band A Decade Apart from Columbus, Ohio recently released a video for their single “Impulse”. With lyrics like “as I deal with this in the worst way, as I look at myself with an impulse to change”, the song is about self-reflection and realizing the want to change is the first step to becoming a better version of yourself. The video complements it very well by depicting the emotion and power within the song.

A Decade Apart is comprised of Josh (vocals), Donald (guitar/vocals), Travis (guitar), Sean (bass), and Tim (drums). In 2016, they recorded their first EP, which was self-titled. In the spring of 2017, they showed the new direction the band was heading with their music with the release of the single “Calamity”. The song was a hit among peers and helped the band gain traction in the local music scene. A few months later they released a single called “Forgiveness”. The single received a lot of attention, not just locally, but regionally. It was selected for radio play, multiple streaming playlists, podcasts, and even as a walk-out song by a professional MMA fighter. They even released a remix version of “Forgiveness” by NASTEE. In the fall of 2018, the band released their second EP ‘Premonitions Part 1’, which includes the single “Impulse” and is the first half of the ‘Premonitions’ release. They are currently working on ‘Premonitions Part 2’ and looking to have it released in 2019.

The band has been making their mark in the local music scene, not only because of their big sound, catchy riffs, and relatable lyrics but also because they treat everyone they meet like family. They make it a point to talk to everyone they can at every show they play and use the hashtag #weareallwehave to try to grow the local music community. They have shared the stage with the likes of Palisades, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Escape The Fate, Sink The Ship, The Word Alive, Miss May I, Parkway Drive, and more. A Decade Apart is definitely on the rise and a band to watch. They are doing big things, and you will not want to miss out.
