The indie-rock duo Pollyanna released their debut EP ‘The World Is…’ on April 19th. The EP showcases all of their dimensions, exploring a wide range of emotions throughout the four tracks. They successfully blend together pieces of indie-rock, alternative, and pop to create a collection that is unique.

Their name, derived from the definition “unreasonably or illogically optimistic”, displays the band’s fun and playful yet driven nature. Comprised of Jill Beckett (vocals/guitar) and Dan McCool (drums), the central New Jersey-based duo has been in various projects together starting at a young age. Using their past musical experiences to evolve into Pollyanna, they initially started playing music together in 2013 when they began writing and creating music with friends in middle school. After entering high school in 2014, they experienced a rotation of different band members while performing under the name Chasing Down Sunset. This name stuck until 2017 when the remaining two members decided to move forward as a duo and settled on the name Pollyanna. Combining dreamy synths and poetic lyrics with modern indie-rock influences, they have acquired a following in the New Jersey music scene.

Pollyanna plans on growing and leaving a mark in the music industry. Their debut EP ‘The World Is…’ is currently available on all digital platforms.
