The hardcore band A Decade Apart will be releasing their new EP ‘Premonitions Part 2’ on June 7th. The highly anticipated follow-up to their EP ‘Premonitions Part 1’ was produced by Trevor Boggs at Sound Legend Studios with artwork created by Bryan Filarsky. The EP is full of cathartic, catchy tracks that will have you singing along in no time.

About ‘Premonitions Part 2’, vocalist Joshua Hardin stated:
“I feel that Premonitions Part 2 is a direct representation of the past relationships from members in the band. It’s an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish and we hope it will connect with our fans and ADA family.”

A Decade Apart consists of Joshua Hardin (vocals), Donald Courter (rhythm guitar), Travis Maynard (lead guitar), Sean Sellitto (bass), and Justin Moegling (drums). Since 2016, the band has been making their mark on the local music scene in Columbus, Ohio. They have gained experience over the years by playing festivals, playing national shows, and touring. They were even a Top 10 Finalist in The Battle for Rock on the Range in 2018. They have sold out venues and have shared stages with notable artists such as Ice Nine Kills, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Parkway Drive, Palisades, The Word Alive, Escape The Fate, Like Moths To Flames, and more.

‘Premonitions Part 2’ showcases punchy lyrics and angst-driven melodies to create aggressively powerful tracks that are personal yet relatable. The first song is “Hope In Tomorrow”, and it dives right in with no hesitation with lyrics like “I’m feeling suffocated, it’s so damn suffocating”. You can feel the hurt radiating from the vocals. We have all heard about love being blind, and “Love Like Knives” tells the story of not listening to those who may know better than you when you are falling into that type of situation. Sometimes love can cut like knives. “Wake Me Up” continues the rollercoaster of emotions with lyrics like “my heart is weighed down, my head is overwhelmed”. While still upbeat, this song has a softer tone that allows the feeling of heartbreak to shine through.

It is clear why “Premonitions” is the title track of this EP. It starts out ominous and when the vocals come in they are bursting with energy. The alternation between clean and unclean vocals in the verses really stands out to me. “Titan Arum” is up next, and the fact that a titan arum is a plant that smells like rotting meat might tell you a bit about the context of this track. Clearly, a relationship has decomposed, which is depicted with lyrics like “I’ll bury these memories” and “now it’s time to move on”. There is a bit of electronic synth present that I really enjoy. Personally, the final track is my favorite. It brings everything to the table and then puts the nail in the coffin. It starts out with an electronic vibe, which also is mirrored toward the end of the song, and then the aggression sets in. The chorus starts with the lyrics “this is goodbye, I will bury you alive”. Referencing “the end”, it is the perfect track to sum up this emotionally intense EP.

Having committed to making a positive impact in the lives of all their fans by creating a connection through authentic, engaging, and memorable lyrics layered over catchy riffs and brutal breakdowns, this band has a fans-first mentality. They treat everyone they meet like family and whole-heartedly embody their mantra #WeAreAllWeHave. This EP balances pop-infused metalcore and electronic post-hardcore, proving that the band creates a sound that is uniquely their own and stands out from the crowd. ‘Premonitions Part 2’ is a work of art featuring six tracks that will allow fans to sing, dance, jump, and scream along all while providing them with a cathartic release they may not have even known they needed. A Decade Apart is a band that is here to stay, and I cannot wait to see what comes next for them.

As the band states: “We are A Decade Apart, and so are you.”
