The metal band Despyre released their album ‘Rise Up’ on June 7th through Pavement Entertainment. The latest installment from the band is steeped in old school heavy metal, which produces a classic sound with a modern twist.

Despyre is made up of five seasoned musicians who have been influenced and cultivated in the shadow of long traditions of heavy metal in and around Long Island, New York. Formed in 2015, their core philosophy is the combination of despair and inspire, which are the two emotions that form the basis of their name. The band’s mission is to encourage those who have struggled, lost hope, or reached a point where life has lost its spark through driving, melodic, and hard-hitting music. They create their own unique contemporary sound while including inspiration from Biohazard, Life of Agony, Type-O Negative, Suffocation, Overkill, and Dream Theatre.

After catching the ear of distinguished metal guitarist Joey Zampella (Life of Agony), they were invited to his Nest Recording Studio in New York to begin recording their debut EP ‘Irritation’ under him personally. They have opened for bands such as DevilDriver, Death Angel, Drowning Pool, Winds of Plague, The Agonist, All That Remains, and more. They have been compared to a variety of current bands including Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, and Disturbed, but Despyre truly has a sound that is their own.
