The indie, grunge rock duo The Dose might only be a band of two members but do not underestimate them. Managed by Joel and Benji Madden’s company, MDDN, the Los Angeles-based band is comprised of Indio Downey (vocals/guitar) and Ralph Alexander (drums). In 2018, they played the Monster Energy Aftershock Festival and the Louder Than Life Festival with the likes of Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Asking Alexandria, FEVER 333, System of a Down, Godsmack, and Incubus. In October and November, they supported Good Charlotte on their Generation Rx 2018 North American Tour alongside Sleeping With Sirens and Knuckle Puck. They also joined Good Charlotte for round two on their Generation Rx 2019 European Tour with Sleeping With Sirens and Boston Manor in January and February.

Despite being busy, The Dose is putting the final touches on their debut full-length album. It was produced by Keith Nelson (Buckcherry) and mixed by Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool). They also recently released their single “Tart” along with a music video for the song. With a sound that will make you reminisce about the grunge era of the nineties, this band puts a new twist on something familiar. The sound of the vocals will remind you of Kurt Cobain. There is unrestrained emotion found in lyrics like “the skeletons I can’t erase, leave me broken ‘til we embrace” and “though we must part, don’t get lonesome, sweet evens tart, the time will come”. This song will have fans singing along in no time and will make fans out of people in the crowd that have never heard the band.

While a release date for their debut full-length album has not been revealed yet, the album is one to add to your be-on-the-lookout-for list. In the meantime, you can check out their other singles “Drown”, “Saline”, “Vervain”, and “Thrill of It”. These guys will give you just the right dose of a modern spin on nostalgic grunge rock.
