The alternative rock band SLANT released a music video for their cover of the U2 classic “With or Without You” ahead of the release of their EP ‘Qui Vivra Verra’. The beautiful cover was recorded with Dave Moreno (Puddle of Mudd) and Sameer Battachrya (Flyleaf), and the video received support from Rock To Recovery to close the video with a PSA to raise awareness to recovery through music.

About the video, Fahim Zaman (vocal/lead guitar) stated:
“I wanted the video to depict how straining and complicated things can get when pursuing a life in creative arts, in terms of mental health. We all know someone that has dealt with substance abuse or behavioral/mental health related instances. On a personal and national level, we have seen those in the arts or creative fields fall into the cycle of substance abuse or other addictions while pursuing their productive paths. Our hope is to bring mental health to the forefront of conversations so that those affected know there are great outlets for help.”

Their new EP ‘Qui Vivra Verra’, released June 21st, features the U2 cover alongside original songs like their single “Dissonance”. Their remake of U2’s “With or Without You” respectfully pays homage to the original classic without sacrificing the band’s original sound and artistic individuality all while raising mental health awareness.

SLANT is nothing ordinary. The band consists of Fahim Zaman (vocals/lead guitar), Munir Haque (rhythm guitar), Josh Chastain (bass), and Jimmy Lee (drums). The members of the band come from various cultural backgrounds and life experiences that influence their unique form of rock while coming together in Los Angeles, California. They have played shows internationally, toured in the U.S., and played a number of festivals, as well as having opened for the likes of Alien Ant Farm, Silversun Pickups, (Hed) P.E., P.O.D., Adema, Powerman 5000, Cage 9, and more.

Whether you call the band hard rock, power rock, progressive, or alternative, they are giving us all a taste of their perspectives on the world through music. SLANT has been bringing forth pure, positive music since their formation.
