Los Angeles-based hardcore band Arcline released a trippy new music video for their track “Scorpion” via Upstate Records.
About “Scorpion”, vocalist Marty Cole stated:
“[The single]’s lyrics are inspired by my frustration with certain people and belief systems that we are confronted with everyday. In the instant information age that we live in, people don’t always take the time to process and research information that is being presented. I just wanted to express my disgust for those people and ways of being and you can tell that I’m a bit emotionally charged in doing so. We wanted our video to include powerful imagery of events and people that had a major impact on society as a whole. It’s actually funny that in our current culture one can openly talk about cults, religion, aliens, space exploration, etc. without having to be associated as a conspiracy theorist like in the past. Maybe memes have just expanded the awareness of our generation on some topics beyond our understanding. I’m not saying it was aliens….but aliens.”
Arcline, which features members of Hoods and Take Vengeance, are no strangers to adapting and thriving in the modern hardcore scene. Throughout a five year career, the band has gone through several lineup changes and signed with Upstate Records. They are now finding their footing among the younger generation of hardcore kids while paying homage to classic, angry, no frills hardcore.
“Scorpion” is off the band’s EP ‘Gateway Drugs’, which was released in October of 2019, and calls upon the audience to question the status quo of social politics. The video for the track was directed by Justin Figgs and edited by Scott Culver.
