The metalcore band ExitWounds released their new single “Divide” as well as a music video for the song via Sharptone Records. The song is about the legend of Edward Mordrake, the man with two faces. Featuring heavy riffs and melodic vocals, the track has an overall sinister sound that pairs well with the video’s eerie location and aesthetics.

The legend is about Edward Mordrake who was a young, intelligent, and good-looking English nobleman. He had everything one could ask for from life. With all these great blessings also came a terrible curse. In addition to his normal face, he possessed a terrifying disfigurement in the form of another face on the back of his head. This second face had eyes and a mouth but could not see, hear, or speak out loud. It was said that the face would sneer while he was happy and smile while he was weeping. He was constantly plagued by his “devil twin” keeping him up all night whispering “such things as they only speak of in hell”. According to the legend, the face muttering things in his ear drove him insane and he committed suicide at the age of 23.

Unfortunately, “Divide” will be the Indianapolis-based band’s last song and video with their vocalist. His departure is due to personal reasons and the rest of the members respect his decision while remaining on good terms. The band will be moving forward with a new vocalist.

ExitWounds will be supporting Fit For A King, Norma Jean, Currents, and Left Behind at Citadel Music Hall on August 9th in Indianapolis, Indiana. This will be their first hometown show with their new vocalist.
